great product, easy to set up. February 22, 2009 Parijat Mukherjee (College Station, TX, USA) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I managed to get this set up in little over an hour working alone. Would sure be easier with two people. The instructions are pretty well detailed and easy to follow. The finished product looks great and is perfect for a memory foam or foam mattress requiring a flat surface (no slats). Extremely cheap bed for the price considering that you dont have to invest in a bed skirt and a bed frame separately. Extremely heavy so you won't want to pick this up alone. Bit difficult even with two people if you need to heave it up and down stairs. I live in a third floor apartment so we found it easier to just unpack it downstairs and carry the pieces up.
Attractive and Economical Platform Bed July 19, 2009 DIY Fan 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The bed is very attractive and a great value for the guest bedroom I recently remodeled. The box as delivered is extremely heavy. UPS left it on the front porch, with warning labels that it was over 70 lbs. (considerably over). I was able to push the box into the garage, open it, and take the contents to my 2nd floor bedroom, a few pieces at a time. I was undaunted by the instructions, warning that two people are required to assemble the bed. I was able to do it alone in a relatively short period of time. The instructions are self-explanatory and everything lined up without a problem. There were two areas where I deviated from the instructions: I did use a cordless power screwdriver in some places simply because my hand got tired. I was VERY careful to not over-tighten the screws while using it, and it did make the job easier. The final step is to put the side moldings on, which was a bit difficult to do alone, as they have to be held in place and screwed in from underneath. Installation was made much easier by marking where the screws were to go, carefully drilling small guide holes (just indentations really), then using a short handled screwdriver to set the screws. Following another reviewer's comment, it would have been a nice touch if the particle board top surface (that the mattress rests on) was painted to match, but this can be easily remedied after the fact, if desired. I'd recommend this bed to anyone considering it.
beautiful bedframe June 23, 2009 Linette Tadeo (Tujunga, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
maybe as some customers have stated, a broken piece was in the package.
It is a very heavy item.
NOTE: If you live on GROUND floor, 99% you will not find a broken piece inside your package.
However if you live on the 3rd floor like me and my husband do, I strongly suggest that you take apart the pieces, then carry them up one by one (about 10 planks of wood in total).
The 1st time, the UPS guy and another resident helped each other to go up 4/5 flights of stairs and left it outside our door.
We we started to unpackage it, we noticed that the one piece skinny bed frame had broken into two. I immediately called Amazon to replace the broken piece. Amazon requested that I send the entire package not just the broken piece. So I mentioned I was a small girl with no muscles for me to carry the heavy item to the bottom of our apartment. So he requested through UPS to send the guy to our door. And it was the same guy that delivered it to us in the first place. I felt sorry for him because he had bought it all the way up to our door with another tenant only for him to bring it back down with him. I should've have tipped him ;)
Anyway, UPS collected it the very next day. Then within a few more days I fgot confirmation in my email that Amazon had received the returned item. The next day, Amazon confirmed a new item had been replaced along with its expected delivery date. It was supposed to be delivered near june 26 but it actually got delivered 3 days early :O)
It took me and my husband roughly an hour with electric drill (thats all you need) to put it together.
We are very happy with our purchase.
nice bed January 10, 2009 O. Krivyan (Staten Island, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The bed was relatively easy to assemble and it looks fabulous with matching headboard. The color is very nice, deep dark brown. It looks rich. If your furniture is mahogany or similar color, this bed will match it well.
